EMP Shield is a Kansas-based company that makes reusable EMP shields that protect electronic devices against electromagnetic disturbances. Since 2019, Evans Evco has been EMP Shield’s supplier of choice for 3MTM Dual LockTM Reclosable Fasteners. This 3M product provides a durable way for the end user to attach and reattach their shield unit to their cars, planes, boats, or wherever electromagnetic shielding is needed.

3M Dual Lock is easily customized. But that’s where EMP Shield was running into inefficiencies because it took an EMP Shield employee several hours at the paper cutter to slice the Dual Lock into 4.25” strips. Though it was simple process, it was labor-intensive and diverted the employee from more productive tasks.

When a representative from Evans Evco realized their customer was manually cutting the product, she proactively raised a solution. Evans Evco is also equipped to die cut Dual Lock (and other tapes) into the exact dimensions EMP Shield needs for its product fasteners.

After a quick analysis, it was determined outsourcing this task to Evans Evco would result in time and money savings for EMP Shield.

Evans Evco added value by sorting and bulk-packing the pieces by size into labeled boxes, so the correct parts could be easily found and located when needed.

After an upfront cost of a custom metal die, EMP Shield quickly realized ROI from saving time and reducing material waste. Instead of spending hours at the paper cutter, their employee gained time back for more profitable tasks. That’s a win win!
